Planting, selling salix saplings help raise income for villagers in Ordos, N China

A villager collects salix saplings at Guanjing Village of Dalad Qi in Ordos, north China's Inner Mongolia, March 19, 2019. Villagers have planted the trees to curb desertification since the 1990s at Guanjing Village of Dalad Qi in Ordos which is located at the border area of Kubuqi Desert. After years of planting, the salix area has reached to 123, 000 mu (8, 200 hectares), accounting for a large proportion of the 192,000-mu (12,800-hectares) forest area in the village. The salix saplings fostered here help to prevent lands from desertification and also enjoy great popularity in the market for its high-quality.
