JAKARTA, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia hailed the success of Chinese movie entitled "Predecessor 3: Goodbye Former" which partly filmed in Indonesia's North Sulawesi province capital of Manado.
"Manado has everything, starting from attraction, accessibility to amenities. With great positive response on the Predecessor 3 movie, we believe there would be more and more Chinese tourists go to Manado," Indonesia Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said here recently, commenting the success of the Chinese movie.
The movie, starred by Chinese talented artists Han Geng and Zheng Kai, met great success as it managed to become the top three most favored movies, becoming a box office during China's winter season at present.
The movie has greatly attracted Chinese moviegoers, earned around 1.4 billion RMB recently from ticket sales in cinemas, reports said.
Many scenes of the Chinese movie took several sets in Manado's tourism spots, including the city and its surrounding landscape, the landmark monument and beautiful undersea sceneries in North Sulawesi's prominent diving spot of Bunaken.
Chinese tourists contributed the most to the province's foreign tourist arrivals. As a favored destination among the Chinese, several airlines provide direct flights linking at least 8 Chinese cities and Manado.
